The Principles of Naturopathic Medicine
FIRST, DO NO HARM
Naturopathic medicine aims to use the least forceful therapy to achieve results. Our culture is used to the notion that stronger is better but sometimes less is more.
THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
The human body is truly amazing. When we support the physical and emotional bodies and remove the things that get in the way of health, we heal. It is so simple and yet, in reality, therein lies the work. It can be helpful to have a guide on this path. This is where my training comes in as I help you identify what is preventing a return to balance, for you personally, as we get you back to feeling well.
IDENTIFY AND TREAT THE CAUSE
I see symptoms as your body's way of communicating an underlying issue, which is why I don't treat symptoms. I like to dig a little deeper, ask a ton of questions and really try and figure out what is going on. By identifying and addressing what is causing the symptoms, true healing can begin.
DOCTOR AS TEACHER
Knowledge is a powerful thing. Choosing this path of healing is likely not the easiest thing you will ever do. When patients understand treatment recommendations and the reasoning behind them, they tend to have better and lasting outcomes.
TREAT THE WHOLE PERSON
You are not your symptoms. You are not your disease. You are made up of all your experiences, thoughts, feelings, history and all of those parts of you play a role in your health. As a naturopath, I will focus on treating you, as the whole, complex human being that you are.
A majority of diseases today are considered preventable through diet and lifestyle practices. Naturopaths are trained extensively in those very two topics. Let's make sure you're doing everything you can to stay healthy through seasonal and lifelong changes.
